Alpha H Liquid Gold

After 2 years of using this I stopped using it for about 6 months when my last bottle ran out, and I am so glad I have started again!

“A powerful overnight ‘serum’, Alpha-H’s bestselling, multiple award-winning Liquid Gold looks more like a toner – a clear liquid, whose appearance belies its remarkable efficacy. An ‘overnight facial’, the pioneering formula (it was originally developed in 2000, and was the very first of its kind) is a phenomenal, leave on, ‘sleep in’ liquid peel, which swiftly (and dramatically) revitalises dulled, ageing skin that’s lost its lustre, whilst gradually lessening the visibility of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, blackheads, blemishes, pigmentation, scarring and redness. In fact, there’s virtually nothing this skin care miracle can’t accomplish”

Yep definitely not a serum, it has the consistency of water. It doesn’t smell particularly nice and it stings a bit when you put it on, but it WORKS. I am constantly ID’d so the anti aging factor isn’t a major pull for me, but I do have a couple of fine lines on my forehead which weren’t there when I was 19 – anyway, a week of using this and they’ve disappeared. My skin is a grease bomb and this has helped so much, my pores are less visible, it’s just good. The point they make about revitalising dull skin that’s lost it’s lustre is definitely true, this is my go to product for the day after the night before.

Another reason I like this is because on the long days when you’re frazzled and skin is looking less than it’s best, this is when you need this product and it’s just so easy to use, no need to cleanse properly as this does the job for you:

  1. Take off makeup with Garnier Micellar water on a few cotton pads
  2. Use micellar water on a cotton pad to do a final clean sweep of your face, just to make sure there is nothing left on
  3. Put a bit of liquid gold on a cotton pad and sweep over face neck and chest
  4. BED

You wake up just looking so much better! It’s like your skin has been moisturised from within and just looks way more radiant. At the moment I’m using it every other night as it seems to provide some oil control as well which I’m suffering with particularly at the moment, but I will probably take this down to once or twice a week as sometimes my cheeks can be a little sensitive.

I got 2 x Liquid Gold 100ml for the price of one from Cult Beauty  for £33.50 – which I think makes it a bit easier to spend on a product you might not be familiar with – the knowledge you can always sell the other one on eBay.. but it’s so worth it and I will definitely be keeping both bottles!

The only other thing I’ve tried that compared to this was the Glycolic Renewal Kit from Revive, they gave me a cute little sample of this from Space NK and by cute I mean 1 professional cleansing pad and a thimbleful of the renewal gel – my god it’s good! But at £190 for 30pads and 118ml that will just have to remain in my skincare cabinet of dreams at the present moment in time 😀

The mascaras you need in your life.

I feel like I need to write about this as it was the first mascara I ever bought! Must have had a 6th sense it’d be good as it looks a bit basic on the shelf, and I don’t think anyone’s expecting miracles for £5.99, but I find this is the ideal base coat and it has been in my makeup bag ever since. The brush is nice and simple, it separates and coats, and it does build very nicely if you just want to use one mascara, but this takes a lot longer than when you use it in combination with the following:

Where’s that heart eyes emoji.. This is a game changer mascara, I thought I’d hate that thin brush so much when I first unwrapped it, but it’s so effective. It’s almost like each thin side acts as a bit of a well for the mascara so you can load a lot of product on to your lashes, and the comb keeps it from just ending in one giant mascarad lash mess. However, I do find this is extremely wet when you first purchase, so I normally buy one, try it once and think what is this nightmare, throw it back in the makeup drawer, and then two weeks later will come back to it again and it is the perfect consistency.

Oh WOW. This is unreal, I’m so sad it’s discontinued, so I’ve stocked up while I can. If you have the time and the patience, this builds seriously lovely, seriously volumised, seriously separated and seriously fluffy lashes. It’s heavenly but it does take a long time to achieve, and the first few coats can feel a bit like you’re getting nowhere but persevere and you’ll reap the rewards. The only downside is the brush, as it’s a bit on the large side it’s quite hard to avoid getting mascara all over your lids when you’re in a rush. So if I’m only using this I whack loads on, clean up lids with bioderma on a cotton bud, then do a quick liquid liner on the outer corners and am good to go.

A very good all rounder. I like this one in the mix as it just adds a little something more when used with the others in combo. The brush is good, it’s very black and quite thick and a good consistency, very good for doing what it says on the tin, but I think x5 volume might be a little excessive a claim, maybe x3 😉

I know some people think using 4 different mascaras is ridiculous but I am mad about eyelashes, so after a good curl with my Shu Uemura eyelash curlers, then coats and coats of the above, these are the results:

First Post! New favourite face mask & lip treatment

Bonjour, today is 29th July 2016. Where’s the bloody year gone? Just wanted to review a face mask I have been using for the past couple of months which I found in Whole Foods. It’s from a brand called Lavera which my boss thought was stocked in Aldi, but I can’t verify that. Anyway, since being diagnosed with PCOS my skin has been like an oil slick, and I find this quite good especially in the hot weather. It smells nice and minty, has a cooling tingling sensation when applied, and when you remove with a damp cleansing cloth after five minutes skin looks much brighter, clean and refreshed! A full 10/10 from me. We had 2 boiling hot days in London over the past couple of weeks that tends to make my excess oil situation twice as bad, so this has been a bit of a saviour. Buy from Lavera here for £2.90 – not a bad price at all considering you get a couple of uses out of it.Lavera face mask

After re-purchasing this several times, I decided to try out their 3-in-1 Wash Scrub & Mask which is £7.95 for 125ml, I was hoping this would have the same sort of results, but it doesn’t do as good a job so I’d say skip it. It also has some little exfoliating beads in which I’m not massively keen on, but I’ve just been applying it like a mask and not massaging them in too much to avoid irritation: here you can see the texture on my chubby morning cheek, not bad but nothing to write home about.

I have spied a lime and salt deep cleansing mask, also by Lavera so will be keeping my beady eye out for if/when that arrives in Whole Foods.

My summer lip of choice: Clarins Eclat Minute 01 which I believe is the shade Rose Shimmer. Ah how I love thee, let me count the ways..

  1. Colour, gorgeous pale pink that almost brightens the lips
  2. Texture, this is glossy but not sticky, almost like a gloss balm hybrid
  3. It just smells like sugar which is heaven and also has a teeny bit of a sugary taste, but that’s barely noticeable
  4. It has a doe foot applicator once you unscrew the lid and you squeeze the product through it so you get the perfect amount, and I imagine there’s no problem when you’re getting near the end and want to make sure every last bit is used up
  5. Keeps lips lovely and moisturised

It comes in 8 different shades, Petal Shimmer and Candy Shimmer are next on my list because obviously you can never have enough pale lip glosses. There are an additional 3 limited edition shades too which look a bit more pigmented if you’re into a bright pop of colour this season.

Sadly the weather has returned to a usual mild and occasionally rainy state of affairs here, but for when the sun is back out I have made the best ice cream discovery ever ♥ On the first floor of Fortnum and Mason you can sit in and have a sundae in The Parlour, but you can also buy a cone for £3 and the Rose & Violet ice cream is unbelievably good! I thought it’d be soapy but it’s not, it’s absolute perfection, and the perfect thing to take to Green Park on a sunny day.IMG_5970
